Interview Notes:

She shares the source of her inspiration, which started with the centennial of the Titanic sinking. Which gave her the idea of a character who is somewhat obsessed with the Titanic and goes on a journey to unearth the history of her Italian American grandfather from Genoa, and how he came to the US.

Like Rachel, her main character, C. D’Angelo is a therapist, and she shares the journey to write and bring this book to market, all while holding a full-time job.

We chat about the seemingly never-ending task of editing and revising a novel, and what changed through editing –including the novel changing from third to first person.

Her writing advice involves endurance, self-belief, and how it feels to finally be in the whirl-wind of publication week, and have the book in readers’ hands.

I probe whether she intends to read her reviews (or not?), and she shares the review (so far) that was everything to her and why.

Lastly, how important her grandfather was both in the inspiration and the family centric vibe and meals throughout the novel.
