Ever wanted to know what inspired a favorite author’s book? Or what advice they’d give to other writers?

Award-winning author, Lainey Cameron, and book blogger, Ashley Hasty, co-host this series of short interviews with the best women’s fiction authors.

Who is Lainey?

I'm a recovering tech industry executive, and women’s fiction author. My debut novel, The Exit Strategy, is a twelve-time award winner and an Amazon #1 Best Seller, and I found inspiration from my own experience of being the only woman in the corporate boardroom. It's been called a "rallying call for women to believe in themselves and join together".

A digital nomad—meaning I pick locations around the world to live (and write) for months at a time—I'm an avid instagrammer.

I’m a proud member of Women's Fiction Writers Association. Originally from Scotland, I have a soft spot for kilts, good malt whisky, and anything equine.

My website at www.laineycameron.com has lots more resources for readers (like reader extras on my books), and for writers .

Who is Ashley?

I’m a university fashion history and marketing instructor, and a book blogger at hastybooklist.com. I’ve interviewed over 500 authors for my blog, featured thousands of books, and introduced readers to other industry professionals including book jacket designers and audiobook narrators.

I am also an aspiring author, currently working on a historical fiction manuscript about the rise of American fashion. You can follow along with what I’m reading and writing (as well as my life in Chicago) on Instagram.

Lainey and I met through our membership with Women’s Fiction Writers Association. I am also a member of the Historical Novel Society, which is why you’ll see me conducting most of the interviews with authors of historical fiction.

Where did the idea for this series come from?

In 2020, during Lainey’s debut author year, she published an article called The Best of 2020 Women’s Fiction.

When she saw how much appetite there was for her to recommend books and authors, she decided to serve her following of book lovers on Instagram and help raise visibility of authors she loved!

In 2022, Lainey invited Ashley to join as co-host to bring her love of historical fiction to the podcast.

15-20 minutes max, because we’re all short on time.

We release episodes each weekend (and sometimes on book publication days) on our podcast Instagram account - follow us here to keep up with the latest episodes.

You can also join Lainey’s newsletter, where she highlights recent interviews and shares her own author news; and join Ashley’s newsletter for book recommendations, the best shows to watch, and gift ideas.

We are both excited by the great authors (some of our favorites) who’ve already agreed to be on the show!

You can find and purchase the books featured here on bookshop.org (profits go to indie bookstores) or amazon.com.
