Barbara Linn Probst, author of Queen of the Owls and The Sound Between the Notes

Key Topics:

Barbara’s inspiration for her newest novel, The Sound Between the Notes, surviving a pandemic debut book launch, and the challenges of sophomore novels.

Interview Notes:

Barbara Linn Probst and I chat about her new novel, THE SOUND BETWEEN THE NOTES, which just received a starred review from Kirkus.

This novel comes on the heels of her 2020 debut QUEEN OF THE OWLS, which was a multiple award winner, and has several fabulous reviews including from the fabulous Julie Cantrell.

We chat about Barbara’s inspiration for this latest novel (and it all started with an experience in a bathroom!), how living on a dirt road off a dirt road affects her writing, and she shares how this book was actually originally conceived before her debut, but took longer to perfect, and how other activities such as walking or music can bring inspiration.

Also surviving a pandemic year debut, and how does the second book feel different to the first?

Reading wise, she cites two other sophomore novels releasing now that she’s excited about – LITTLE PIECES OF ME from Alison Hammer and SISTERS OF THE VINE from Linda Rosen.
